Q: The hinge sockets (for lack of better description) on our canister have broken so the hinge clips won't work to deal the kid on. Everything else works fine, where can we get just the canister (or even canister base) please? If we can just order one, please advise what to request and how much ?

Asked by: Theresa - 12/19/2015
A: The damage is to the hinge brackets on the base. Some folks call them claws or brackets. You will need a new canister but you can temporarily seal the canister by using electrical straps around the bottom and over the top of the filter.

The item number for the canister bottom is 722C1 or use the description in the search box:

Filstar L (XP3) Canister w/Feet, Baskets

Q: This is the best filter ever! What do you recommend as an alternative?

Asked by: Renee - 2/10/2021
A: We are not recommending anything right now and our focused on supplying parts. We were able to secure enough parts from the manufacturer to supply current owners with parts for the next 4 years. Hopefully something else will come along that we can recommend.

Q: Can an impeller from a ( XP3 L ) be used on an ( XP4 XL ) ?

Asked by: Robert - 9/23/2018
A: All impellers will fit but you may not get the flow intended. Impellers are designed to provide the right amount of flow for the number of baskets. Too much flow and the water does not have enough contact time with the media. To little flow and the water is not processed by the filter media.

Q: can i buy only the backet of the xp3 filter?. He broke me.

Asked by: nir - 10/20/2018
A: These are on sale while supplies last at the lowest price we have ever offered. The canister is only available from the manufacturer as a complete set without media. Sometimes you can find parts on Ebay or other places really cheap which might solve your problem.

Q: 220 volt?

Asked by: Rajan - 5/4/2020
A: We have no 220 volt motors any longer. The rotor/impeller we have will work with a 220 volt motor but you may not get the same flow as the old rotor gave you.

Q: I'm having trouble with my XP3. Water is not flowing, but I hear the motor running, and the impeller goes clack clack clack like normal when I first plug it in. I pushed some water through the intake with a hose and water flowed freely through but didn't continue when I stopped. Not sure what is going on. The little rubber plug on the motor housing is really rotted and doesn't fills the hole. Falls out when I take the top off the filter.

Asked by: Ron Goodrich - 12/3/2021
A: There could be one or a combination of things wrong with your filter. For comprehensive troubleshooting information visit our blog at: https://www.renaaquaticsupply.com/Technical-Support_bc_2.html.

Q: Filter trickling water from power cord

Asked by: joe - 9/26/2022
A: Usually indicates a leak around the quick disconnect. Water flows into the void space in the motor and then leaks out where the power cord goes into the motor. Usual fix is a new quick disconnect or you try putting a heavy coat of vaseline on the Quick Disconnect o-rings and sometimes this works to seal the leak.
