The power jet nozzle is used to direct the water discharged from the filter onto the water's surface. This increases agitation and aeration in the tank for better oxygenation. The nozzle can also be placed below the water surface to create stronger water currents which some fish species prefer.

A:
The power jet nozzle was part of the original Rena Filstar Filters. These parts were discontinued and replaced with a more streamlined inlet/outlet system and the product was renamed API Filstar.
The old system had a flow control valve to adjust the outlet flow. The power jet nozzle attached to that flow control but the valve is what controlled the flow.
