Original replacement motor for the Filstar Large and XP3. Includes a canister O-ring and impeller cover seal.
It does not include the Quick Disconnect Unit, rotor/impeller or impeller cover
. This motor also replaced the original Rena Filstar XP3 Motor.
Replace if broken or if impeller does not spin when motor is plugged into an electrical outlet. Motor replacement does not fix low flow unless the actual motor housing is damaged. Replace this only if it is completely dead.

A:
It will fit the the cover fine. You may notice a difference in flow or noise. These motors are all matched to the number of baskets and the power of the rotor impeller to provide reliable startup and quiet operation. However you can generally go up or down one level with the motor or rotor/impeller without affecting performance.

You want the Quick Disconnect. This connects the tubing to the Motor. ITEM 720D just put the code in the search box on the right of most pages.

This is the entire motor including "the top cover". It consists of the two halves of the motor, top, and bottom. In the bottom half you have the coil and cord attached to the motor which housed inside a waterproof chamber. The motor also includes a canister Oring and Impeller cover seal.

A:
Water coming out the power cord area or the seam between the two halves of the motor is usually related to leaking around the quick disconnect. What happens is that water bubbles up around the QD into the area where the QD is located. If you notice there is "V" shaped notch in this area. This carries water that leaks around this area into the center of the motor. If it leaks too much then it fills the center of the motor and eventually comes out the cord area or between the seam around the center of the motor.
The best fix is replacing the Orings on the QD or replacing the QD if you have a filter that is older. Other problems are damage in the well where the QD sits. Sometimes the prongs on the safety catch (look like goal posts) have sheared of corners from locking and unlocking the QD. Sometimes you can have damage to the top half of the motor housing where the two extension tubes of the QD sit as well.
You can test the Orings by putting a lot of vaseline or other water based silicone lubricant on the orings and then do a restart of the filter with an empty canister (proper restart method) to see if the canister fills all the way to the top. If so you have probably isolated the problem at the Orings. Item 720G is the gasket kit and item 720D is the QD.
