API Rena Filstar XL (XP4) Canister Replacement with feet (871500-00)

Q: I am needing the API Filstar XL replacement Canister box part before I order this I just want to make sure that's whats I'm getting with this item? Thank You

Q: Hi, Few years back I had purchased a filstar xl filter which still works quite well, but one of the hinges have broken and now the does not snap shut. I had purchased from Aquatica on the west island here in Montreal but now they have closed. Was wondering is there another retailer near by that I can purchase from? Ordering online would be too costly as I'm sure it's on US dollars and would cost as much as a new canister filter. Thank you, Vick Ahuja

A: You are correct. This is the canister "bottom" of the filter. This fits both the original Rena Filstar XP4 and the new API Filstar XL (extra large). It does not come with any media which you will bring over from your old canister.

A: This is the *Canister* w/feet/baskets and clips. This is the entire bottom of the filter without the filter media that is included with a new filter. Just old media out and put it in the new canister and you are good to go.

We ship to Canada just as we ship to the rest of the world. Just fill out the order information and when you get to the checkout page you can get an estimate on shipping. With shipping and insurance this item will cost between 175.00 and 200.00 US. But if you do want to buy it we can ship it. We don't offer insurance and there is no returns if it does not fix your filter.

It will fit but the results may not be to your liking. Also, you will need to purchase another basket if you don't have one. What problems you may have would be related to the flow through the filter. The motors are designed for the optimum flow and contact time with the filter media for optimum results. Adding an extra basket with additional media and the motor may not be able to pull the water through the basket at the speed necessary for the best results. I do know users that have done this and had excellent results while others have been dissatisfied. If you do this you also void the warranty and there would no returns.

A: Yes, interchangeable, but we don't recommend going up or down more than one size as flow may be different than before.
