A: The motor assembly for any Filstar Filter consists of two parts, Top of the motor, motor coil and housing which includes the cord and Orings. The motor cover is the top of motor which covers the rest of the motor.

A: Motors have two halves. The top half, motor cover, includes what is shown in the picture. If you want the black plug you can buy that separately.

The lid is the top half of the motor. We offer these separately since it is much less expensive to replace the lid if you damage the edge of the motor by dropping which is usually how motors are damaged. Complete motors are offered also. These include the motor housing, coil and motor O-ring and Impeller cover seal.

Cover only. The seals come with the complete motor replacement.

This leak is the result of water coming up into the motor well from the filter canister or the tubing coming from the aquarium. This can be the result of the o-rings on the quick disconnect not sealing properly or a faulty quick disconnect which is not sealing properly in the top of the motor. you can try adding some vaseline or other type sealant to the Orings on the quick disconnect or you can purchase a new quick disconnect.
